Timberlake Media Announces Yaling Tan as our 13th Scholarship Recipient

Yaling Tan 2013   Timberlake Media is thrilled to announce Yaling Tan as our 13th recipient of the Patricia McCarty Advertising and Marketing Scholarship at Columbia College.    Yaling is a senior Marketing Communication major (advertising concentration) and math minor student at Columbia College Chicago. Having interests in two different directions, she finds passion in both copywriting and marketing research.   Yaling currently works as a medical interpreter at local Chicago hospitals.  And, having first hand knowledge in the medical field, she has a desire to work on pharmaceutical advertising in the future.   Other than copywriting, Yaling also enjoys composing lyrics. Her portfolio now  reaches nearly 100 titles, mostly written in Chinese.  Yaling believes this short form of writing has provided her the necessary writing skill in which she can apply to copywriting.  After graduation next year, Yaling hopes to pursue a job in either copywriting or marketing research.  

Timberlake Media announces Vanessa Monson as our 12th Scholarship Recipient

Vanessa Monson Timberlake Media is proud to announce Vanessa Monson as our 12th recipient of the Patricia McCarty Advertising and Marketing Scholarship at Columbia College.  We are proud of her achievement and the opportunity to help with her continuing studies at Columbia College. Vanessa is a junior at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in marketing. Her passion for marketing and advertising began when she was in high school and has continued to flourish since she moved from the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Chicago, Illinois to continue her studies and pursue her dreams of working in the marketing industry. As a student in the Marketing Communication Department, she has had the opportunity to intern at several different companies.  Her most recent internship is currently at Allure Magazine at Conde Nast, where she’s developed an interest in publishing and entertainment. She is a member of the Columbia College Chicago Ad Club, Columbia College Chicago Public Relations Student Society of America, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Vanessa will be travelling to Prague, Czech Republic this summer with Columbia College Chicago’s Marketing Communication Department to learn about global marketing and work in collaboration with DraftFCB.  Following graduation, Vanessa would like to work in a digital marketing position while exploring her love for entertainment and fashion.

2011 Scholarship Recipient

Scholarship Recipient:   Suzanne Miller

Year: 2011 Suzanne Miller Suzanne is a senior at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in marketing with a minor in web development. It was in high school that Suzanne first realized she wanted to pursue a career in advertising. After joining her school's DECA program she quickly fell in love with marketing. Advertising was the perfect combination of her newfound passion and her background in fine art. Her exploration of the various advertising careers available led her to an internship with the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the YMCA of USA. She currently works as an ad designer at The Times Media Company in northwest Indiana. She is a member of the Columbia College Chicago Honors Program and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. After graduation, Suzanne will pursue a career as a digital/interactive marketing strategist or art director and follow her entrepreneurial spirit.

2010 Scholarship Recipient

Timberlake Media Scholarship Recipient: Shelby Jacobs

Year: 2010 Shelby Jacobs Timberlake Media Services is pleased to announce Shelby Jacobs as our 2010 Columbia College Scholarship Recipient! Shelby is a senior marketing major at Columbia College Chicago. Her interest in an advertising and marketing profession began when she started subscribing to magazines in junior high. Not only was she attracted to the messaging and imagery, but also to the entire process that ultimately placed advertisements into the publications. As a student in the Marketing Communication Department, she has had the opportunity to intern for companies like The Word of Mouth Marketing Association, Terrance Sullivan Denim, and Time Out Chicago. In addition, she has served as President of Columbia's collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association; a chapter that was recognized as an outstanding chapter during the AMA's year-end chapter evaluations. Following graduation, Shelby would like to work in an interactive/ digital marketing position for a major publication and continue to test out various marketing methods on her fashion student mentor blog, NextInFashion.com.
